Wear OS 6 should add a very practical novelty to carry your watch under water

With the update to wear OS 6, Google is planning to offer a new underwater locking mode, to prevent the touch screen from doing something at the least drop.

Last month, Google benefited from the annual Google I/O conference to present the coming new functions for connected watches with its operating system, wear OS 6. However, as for all iterations, the company retains a few new functions in the following OS versions, per release in the final version, expects this fall.

Autonomy, dials, interface … This is how Google will improve your connected watch with Wear OS 6

Until then, the site Android Authority was able to discover a new fast parameter, apparently in development at Google and present in the Developer Preview version of Wear OS 6. Respond to the name of “” Water lock (Aquatic lock in French), This parameter should mainly meet people who use their watch in the shower or at the swimming pool.

A practical function to prevent false support on the screen

It must be said that the touch screens of connected watches use capacitive technology. In other words, they benefit from the electrical conductivity of the finger to work. However, this conductivity is also permitted by the water that would come to deposit on the screen in the rain, the shower or in the water.

Consequently, it may happen that the connected watches have difficulty making the difference between the support with the finger or the drops of water that are projected on the screen surface.

This function should therefore make it possible to turn the touch function of the screen immediately, immediately before diving into the water, take a shower or do the dishes.

As indicated Android AuthoritySome wear OS -Watches already offer this functionality. This is particularly the case with Samsung Galaxy Watch watches, which integrate a function of the same name, water lock.

We need to know more about this new position during the latest implementation of Wear OS 6. The update is currently offered in beta – without this aquatic lock – on earlier Google Watches. It should be available with the future Pixel Watch 4 that expects this summer, probably in the month of August.
