Bandung, alive – The Government of the City (PEMKOT) of Bandung is investigating the alleged practice of illegal taxes (extortion) in the process of selecting new students (SPMB) whose value supposedly is reached 8 million RP per seat.

The mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, said that his party would take firm measures against extortion perpetrators, both of the recipient and bribe, if sufficient evidence was found.
“If it is only indicated, it will be given a strong warning and severe administrative sanctions. But it has been shown that there are transactions, immediately the criminal process,” Farhan said in Bandung, Wednesday.

The Government of the city of Bandung, he said, continues to coordinate with the officials responsible for enforcing the law to ensure that the selection process works fair, transparent and free of corruption practices.
“We don’t want anyone to feel protected or special treaty,” he said.
Farhan emphasized that all extortion indications reports will be seriously followed and immediately informed the clean sweep of the work group of illegal encumbrances (knowledge pungli).
