President of the Masyayikh Assembly, KH. Abdul Ghafffar Rozin said that the preparation of this standard should avoid an instant approach that can sacrifice the depth of the substance.

“Ma’had Aly is a reproductive meeting of scholars. We want to give birth to a person from Faqih, who ends with himself, and is able to navigate the masses of the people. That is not something easy, and it cannot be simplified,” he said.

Gus Rozin explained that quality standards M2 and M3 should not be designed careless or too permissive. Instead, he recalled the importance of adopting comparative evaluation with international religious institutions such as Iran and Morocco.

“We are building an ideal ulma reproductive institution that mutafaqqih fiddin and faqih fi masalihil khalqi. This standard must reflect the quality and character of the ulama that we want to give birth,” he added.

In line with this, kh. Muhyiddin Khotib, secretary of the Masyayikh Council, added that this forum became an important space to organize gradations between levels systematically.

“Our approach is to ensure that M2 and M3 are not only administratively different, but also academic characteristics. M2 is the attachment stage (reinforcement), while M3 is the IBDA phase ‘(innovation). This is important to guarantee the continuity and integrity of the regeneration of the ulma,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mahrus, head of the Sub Department of Education, Ma’had Aly, revealed that this standard will have a broad impact, including strengthening the position of Ma’had Aly at national and international level.

“As of this year, God, Ma’had Aly has the support of LPDP’s research. This is a golden opportunity for the Pesantle to appear as a higher and typical research institution in Islamic traditions,” he concluded.
