The local cosmetics of NTT now have the BPOM certification: what is the secret?

VIVA – In the midst of efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of the Indonesian MSME, the province of Nusa Tenggara (NTT) of East Nusa recorded important steps. The local cosmetic products of the East Indonesia now successfully achieved the certification of the Food and Drug Supervision Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BPOM). This achievement is not only a symbol of quality recognition, but also an important milestone in the transformation of micro and small businesses into remote areas.

This success cannot be separated from the role of the Bangu Karya program, a collaboration initiative between BPOM RI, the Provincial Government of NTT and the Bentoel Group that was launched in May 2024

One of the crucial achievements in this program is the construction of a standard production house of good manufacturing practices (GMP): a key infrastructure that opens the way for local cosmetics companies to meet the legality requirements of BPOM. In addition, more than 300 MSME have also received education about the importance of good and safe production practices.

A strong commitment from the local government was clearly observed in the comments of the governor of NTT, Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena, during the closing of the program.

“This program shows that the collaboration between the Government, the private sector and the community can respond concrete challenges in the field. We start from the village, from small mipyme, to build a NTT that are competitive and ready to face the global market. This spirit is also in line with the program of a village, a product (ovop) that we have launched a few days ago as part of the economic transformation of the village,” he said.
