East Manggarai, Viva – Mariahati Fania Triselni, an 11 -year -old boy in Rana Gapang, East Manggarai, East Nusa Tengara (NTT), lived a very different life of her age. Returning to school is not time to play, but she hastened to take care of her grandfather and the grandmother who was very old and sick.

In the last four years, Fania had to take care of her grandmother, Telesia Pia (90), who could not stop and walk due to disease and old age. His grandfather, Peter, respectively (95), also experienced visual disability, hearing and difficulty running since the last two years. The condition of the two makes them depend completely on their only grandson puppet.
In the house that was already desperate, Fania performed several tasks that go from preparing breakfast, feeding, cooking, washing clothes, preparing bath water for her grandparents. Everything becomes patient and responsibly, although he is still young and must enjoy childhood.
Fania lived with her grandfather and grandmother because her father had died a few years ago, while her mother and brothers lived in a different place. Although heavy, Fania is still the spirit of the school and aspires to become a teacher so she can help her grandmother’s grandmother heal.
Every time I return home from the school, Fania does not play with her friends or buy snacks, but goes home and looking for vegetables in the garden to cook for her grandfather and grandmother.
“In the morning before going to school, I prepared everything for food for grandparents. Similarly, when I went home to stop at the garden of collecting vegetables to lunch,” Fania said with a small voice.

In economic limitations, Fania who had just graduated from primary school claimed not to know how to finance education at the level of high school later.
“I don’t know later. You can high school or not. I have aspirations to be a teacher, sir, but how will cost the cost later?” Fania said softly.
Telesia grandmother revealed that despite having five married children, her help was not always enough to meet their daily needs.
Neighbors often provide improvised assistance. Tearsi expects government to help medical expenses and improve the condition of their homes.
“Once we can obtain BLT nursing home from the village funds,” said Teresia Granduela.

This story received attention from the Local Police. Bripka Hery Tena de Dokkes Manggarai and Bripta Lalu Sukiman, Kapospol Elar, arrived at Fania’s house as a form of concern for the East Mangarai regional police towards small communities.
The two police officers are committed to finding solutions so that Fania’s families and other disadvantaged communities receive more attention from various parts, especially in terms of health and well -being.
“We come here as a form of our concern of the East Mangarai Regional Police and the National Police, of course, in terms of helping small communities,” said Bripka Hery Tena, Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
Bripta Lalu Sukiman also said the same thing that his visit was aimed at helping small communities.
“Our activity is a form of social attention for small communities. After obtaining information, we arrive here, we really want to see their suffering first hand,” he said.
