Days Gone was developed by Bend Studios, devs known for the iconic Syphon Filter franchise and first released for the PS4 in 2019. 6 years later, and Days Gone is officially back—even if it’s just in the form of a remaster.
Sony released a trailer on Friday (April 25th) to celebrate the updated version of the open-world title, showing the graphical enhancements powered by PS5 and the new features available.
The trailer welcomes players back to the infection-infested lands of Oregon, with Deacon St. John is attempting to find his wife, who was previously thought to be dead. While fans thought that Sony all but forgot about their other zombie-focused IP, the trailer presents a differing argument altogether.

Days Gone Remastered and horrifying new features
Days Gone Remastered was released for the PS5 on Friday (April 25th), beefed up for the modern console generation with new PS5 Pro fidelity. The trailer shows off the new coat of paint in the launch trailer, showing off insane lighting, realistic gore, and some of the most gruesome enemies in their interpretation of Oregon.
“Fight to survive an environment ravaged by a deadly pandemic as former outlaw biker, Deacon St. John,” the official description of the game reads on Sony’s website.
“Risk the threats of the Broken Road on the back of your trusty Drifter bike as you face terrifying hordes of relentless feral Freakers – as well as dangerous gangs of humans. Unpredictable weather and different times of day and night can cause incredible danger and shocking surprises… and everything wants you dead.”
The site also issues a slew of new quality of features for the remastered edition. Highlighting the game’s modernization, Sony shows fans that it truly cares about Days Gone by adding 3D Audio, reducing loading times, and even allowing players to reduce game speeds to decrease (or increase) the anxieties of facing zombie hordes.

Plenty of new features
Additionally, Sony and Bend Studios implemented an array of features to make the game accessible for its players. Days Gone Remastered features 11 new subtitle colors based on the player’s preference and a fully customizable High Contrast mode.
In High Contrast mode, players will be able to “apply predefined settings with two preset options – Primary and Secondary. However, you can also customize it to your preferences by setting the hero, friendly NPC, enemy, and interactable colors based on the 11 total color choices you also have with the subtitle settings. These contrast options are designed to increase visibility for the player during gameplay,” per Sony.

Of course, the features of Days Gone Remastered have given fans hope that a potential sequel is on the horizon. However, Bend Studios didn’t mention or even hint at a follow-up to the game in the Sony blog. Instead, they doubled down on Days Gone Remastered and asserted that, with the upgrades, they wanted “players of abilities” to be able to enjoy their “open-world epic.”
