The Persona series is one that has only seemed to increase in popularity as time has gone on. Persona 3 received a full-blown remake last year as Persona 3 Reload while Persona 4 and 5 were treated to an expansion of sorts in the form of Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal. Despite Persona 4’s enhanced port for the Vita, it has been rumored for months that a remake of the iconic game was in development. A recent update to a website domain now heavily suggests these rumors to be true and that an announcement may be coming sooner than you think.

Registered on March 20, 2025, a domain name with the web address “p4re.jp” is seemingly associated with the rumored Persona 4 remake. While this in and of itself isn’t necessarily noteworthy, the domain was updated on April 21, 2025, suggesting an official announcement from Sega and Atlus may be in the near future.

This follows a similar pattern to Persona 3 Reload’s eventual announcement

Notably, Persona 3 Reload’s website followed an identical pattern. It was registered back on March 15, 2023, and the game was officially announced at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 11, 2023. Considering the similar timeframe, it’s likely the same may occur with Persona 4 at this year’s Xbox Games Showcase on June 8, 2025. Persona 3 Reload was also available on Game Pass the day it launched, meaning Persona 4’s remake could follow suit.

Additionally, Persona 4 vocalist Shihoko Hirata took to Instagram a few months ago and revealed that she was recording a theme song for an unannounced game and was nervous about it. The post in question was from MIT Studio in Tokyo, a place with a known history of recording Persona tracks. Though this could just be her appreciating the praise, fans noticed her liking comments that reference Persona 4.

Persona 5 was released back in 2016, so Persona enthusiasts have had a long wait for the next mainline title in the series, and it appears we’ll have to wait a bit longer. Persona 3 Reload sold one million copies in its first week, which may have been all Atlus needed to realize remaking Persona 4 could yield similar results. Persona 4 has already had its fair share of successful spin-offs, so the brand power and recognition is certainly there.

Taking place in the small town of Inaba, Persona 4 sees you making friends and trying to solve the mystery surrounding a mysterious fog that regularly envelops the town and seemingly related murders that occur. The gameplay, lovable cast of characters, and infectiously catchy music are all reason enough to like it, so receiving something akin to the Persona 3 Reload treatment is an exciting prospect.

Spin-offs featuring Persona 4 characters

  • Persona 4 Arena
  • Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
  • Persona 4: Dancing All Night
