Marvel Rivals has added more ways to get players to express themselves through new customization features. NetEase issued a statement regarding the option to release a big update for the game on Thursday (April 17), detailing general fixes and character-specific issues that sometimes broke the game.

But it was the character costume customization feature that stole the headlines. While the company explained that not every character would get a custom costume color right out of the gate, some fan favorites would get the feature.

Capcom did the unthinkable and updated this beloved fighting collection

Capcom has updated this fighting game collection, and it could be a sign of good things to come.

Everything you need to know about the new recolored costumes in Marvel Rivals.

As a part of the new update for Marvel Rivals released on April 17th, the game received custom costume colors just in time for the Hellfire Gala. Characters such as Winter Soldier, Psylocke, Magik, and Luna Snow will be the only heroes in the game who receive the feature right now. Sadly, no Spider-Man. But NetEase has assured players that more costumes will get some love in the future. However, these legendary costumes will require a new currency to obtain the ability to change colors and, of course, it isn’t free. Per the official statement made from the Marvel Rivals social media accounts, you will need to purchase 600 Unstable Molecules. With the 1:1 rate the game offers, that price comes out to $6.00.

“Unstable Molecules can be exchanged from Lattice at a 1:1 rate. You must first obtain the costumes before you can customize them. Initially, only a select few costumes will have this feature and we will expand more over time to other costumes”

The color changes will impact how heroes’ intros, MVP screens, and Emotes look in the game. During this time, buying Unstable molecules will be the only to obtain the newly introduced in-game currency. But NetEase explained that at the start of Marvel Rivals Season 3, players will be given more ways to gain this virtual money.

Along with the customizable costumes, the new update features an array of changes to the game.

  • Resolved an error where importing reticle settings would sometimes show an invalid character message.
  • Fixed several terrain issues that could cause characters to become stuck or clip into strange areas.
  • Wolverine’s Claw-some Comeback: Fixed an issue where Wolverine’s Ultimate Ability landing sometimes wouldn’t finish properly in poor network conditions. Now, the best there is at what he does can unleash his fury without any hiccups!
  • Fastball Fumble: Resolved an issue where Wolverine could sometimes be unable to control his direction during the Fastball Special after using it multiple times. Now, every throw will be a claw-some hit!
  • Banner’s Hulk Smash Fix: Resolved a rare model display issue that could sometimes occur when Bruce Banner transformed in terrain kill zones. Now, when the good doctor gets angry, he won’t just smash; he’ll do it with style—HULK SMASH, without the visual chaos!
  • The Thing’s Rocky Report: Corrected the ability icon error in the KO Prompt when the Thing’s Ultimate Ability causes terrain kills. Now, when he brings the pain, the prompt will accurately reflect the mayhem.
  • Spider-Island Resurrection Reboot: Fixed an issue where Adam Warlock could accidentally resurrect teammates in the out-of-play area on Spider-Islands. Now, teammates will return to solid ground instead of being stuck in limbo!
