It could be argued that Xbox Game Pass is the best deal in gaming, with tons of games, new and old, coming to the subscription service all the time. 2025 is looking to keep that trend going, with a number of day one launches and new additions coming, from big Xbox titles to exciting third-party titles. While the tiers in the service have become a bit confusing, every game on this list will be part of Game Pass Ultimate, which is the tier you need to get every day one release. Xbox Game Pass also includes the PC service, which can be accessed on most of PC handhelds like the
Steam Deck
, even if it takes some extra effort.
While Xbox typically announces the next wave of games the first and third Tuesday of each month on Xbox Wire, some games are announced as Game Pass titles far in advance. For this list, we have 10 games, some already out at the time of writing and a bunch coming later in 2025. All of these games have 2025 release dates and are confirmed to be coming to the service at launch, including some of the best-reviewed games so far this year. We’ve also listed all platforms each game is on, in case you’re just looking for exciting upcoming games.

Avowed
Obsidian’s fantasy RPG offers tons of depth in a small package.
Avowed is Obsidian’s latest RPG, this one a fantasy-focused adventure set in the Pillars of Eternity universe. The game takes Skyrim-style gameplay and structure, but drastically improves the combat and sets in it a smaller world. The combat allows you to wield swords, shields, guns, and magic, and with the ability to dual-wield, you can have both a gun and a wand for example. The NPCs have a ton of depth, choices impact your adventure, and the entire journey could take as short as 30 hours, not wasting your time. Avowed is already out and available as part of Xbox Game Pass, and since its Xbox published, it shouldn’t be leaving the service anytime soon.

Blue Prince
Check out 2025’s first major indie darling.
You may not be familiar with the indie puzzle game, Blue Prince, but you should be. At the time of writing, it’s the highest rated game of 2025 on Metacritic. That means it has a higher rating than Split Fiction, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. In Blue Prince, you are set to inherit an estate left to you, but first you must reach the mysterious Room 46. To do this, you must do roguelike runs, where you pick rooms to add on from a deck of cards. But within these rooms you must solve puzzles, sometimes contained to the room, with others spanning the whole house. A notebook is recommended for taking notes, and it’s available now on Xbox Game Pass.

Octopath Traveler 2
One of the best JRPGs of recent years.
The Lionheart’s Axe skill in action in Octopath Traveler 2.
Octopath Traveler 2 came out in 2023, and hit Xbox in 2024 as part of Game Pass Ultimate, but it makes this list for a few reasons. First, it came to the standard tier in 2025, opening it up to more Game Pass subscribers, but more importantly, this means it will likely stay in the service until 2026. Games usually stay on the service for a minimum of one year, so moving to the standard tier should add more time until it leaves.
This excellent turn-based RPG has incredible HD-2D pixel art, an engaging and lovable party, and a complex combat system that will keep you engaged for the dozens of hours this game takes to complete. If you have any love for turn-based games, Octopath Traveler 2 is a must-play, especially as part of a service you’re already paying for.

Doom: The Dark Ages
Time to Rip and Tear, medieval-style.
Moving into games you can look forward to, Doom: The Dark Ages
Doom: The Dark Ages
is set to launch on May 15 on Xbox Game Pass. The third entry in the modern Doom franchise, this prequel has a medieval setting, meaning that you have melee weapons, like a flail or a mace, plus a shield. Of course, it’s still Doom, so that shield has a saw in it and you still have plenty of guns at your disposal. Doom: The Dark Ages also features a dragon and a giant mech, a little something for everybody.
Many of the games coming to Xbox Game Pass are coming to both the console and PC versions of the service.

Hollow Knight: Silksong
You might be able to take off the clown makeup.
We won’t be making any promises about Hollow Knight: Silksong actually releasing, but a recent Nintendo Direct featured the game promising a 2025 release, and so did a recent Xbox Wire post. Hollow Knight: Silksong is the hotly anticipated sequel to the hit metroidvania of the same name. The deeply difficult combat and dark world to explore paired perfectly with the 2D platforming. It doesn’t have a set date at the moment, but it is coming to Xbox Game Pass whenever it does release.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
A refreshing take on turn-based RPGs.
A debut title for a new studio, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has built hype by showing some impressive looking gameplay. The turn-based RPG is inspired by classic JRPGs, but set in a French-inspired world where people of a certain age are killed each year by the Paintress, with the age getting lower and lower. The Expedition sets out to defeat her, with this game following members of Expedition 33. The turn-based combat takes inspiration from Mario RPG, having quick-time events for attacks in combat, along with dodging and parrying incoming damage. It looks incredible and features a stacked voice cast, including Charlie Cox and Ben Starr. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 releases on April 24.

Ninja Gaiden 4
Platinum Games X Team Ninja.
It’s been over a decade since a new Ninja Gaiden game, but Xbox has teamed up with Team Ninja to publish Ninja Gaiden 4, which is coming to Game Pass when it releases sometime in the fall. Team Ninja decided that three would be a party, bringing in Platinum Games, known for excellent action games like Nier Automata, to co-develop the game. Ninja Gaiden 4 will include the fast-paced and intensely difficult action combat the series is known for, with a futuristic feel and a new protagonist, Yakumo, along with the returning Ryu Hayabusa. Between the development talent and long wait, Ninja Gaiden 4 should be on everyone’s radar.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4
The next bundle of remakes is just around the half pipe.
After the release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, developer Vicarious Visions was folded into Blizzard by Activision, making another remake collection seem impossible. But Activision and Microsoft enlisted Iron Galaxy Studios to make Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4. This remake takes the maps from the original 3 and 4 and smushes them together into a single package. Levels from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 have been altered to work with the two-minute arcade timer and a few brand-new levels are coming as well. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 launches on July 11.

Rematch
It’s like Rocket League with people.
Rematch is a 5v5 soccer game from Sloclap, the developer of the difficult combat game Sifu, that looks inspired by Rocket League. The multiplayer match requires you to pass, dodge, and slide in intense third-person soccer matches. This isn’t a sim though, as it requires full multiplayer teams where you only control one player on the team. The game is streamlined, with no offsides or fouls, resulting in nonstop soccer action, where you control your character with precision. You won’t have to worry about finding matches with Rematch coming to Xbox Game Pass when it releases on June 19.
