Nintendo Switch 2’s Cyberpunk 2077 could end up being the definitive version of the title when it’s all said and done. It unofficially revaled the game on its website on Thursday (April 24th)—the same day that the console was up for pre-order nationwide. The game is dubbed Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and saw the title becoming available for pre-order on Nintendo’s site.
The company has also listed additional features that players can expect from the beefed-up version of the game. And if that wasn’t enough, CD Projekt Red’s engineer, Tim Green, spoke about how the Switch 2 port will address issues the game faced on launch and beyond on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition for the Switch 2 may become the definitive version
Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is set to be a Nintendo Switch 2 launch title, releasing on June 5th, 2025. As per the official description of the game, the Ultimate Edition will include the Phantom Liberty expansion, which focuses on Dogtown in a tale of espionage. The game will even include new ways to play as Cyberpunk 2077 will make use of the Switch 2’s Joy-Con 2 motion controls and the newly incorporated mouse controls.
“Hack and slash your foes with Joy-Con 2 motion controls, take down enemies thanks to intuitive gyroscope aiming, touch, tap, and swipe your way through menus, or use your Joy-Con 2 as a mouse and experience pin-point accuracy in and out of combat,” an official description for the game reads. The Switch 2 will also feature some unnamed “in-game goodies” by way of CD Projekt Red through the Nintendo My Rewards program.
Green told GameFile that players can expect the game to be beautiful, and detailed what the specs will be in the Switch 2’s various modes. He also insisted that there were development issues, as is the case with most games, but CD Projekt Red’s team was “careful..not to compromise the game’s vision.” But what they did arrive on was made possible through the Switch 2’s system and memory.

“We are currently targeting 1080p resolution in TV quality mode, TV performance mode, and handheld quality mode—and targeting 720p performance in handheld performance mode,” Green told the outlet. “Cyberpunk 2077 has seen a tremendous amount of ongoing love as we’ve continued to improve the game. In bringing the Ultimate Edition to Nintendo Switch 2 we were able to build on top of that already solid base.”
“We haven’t had to fight with fitting into memory,” he added. “And the speed of the data storage has helped alleviate some of those early streaming problems. This has allowed us to focus our attention on improving other things, and we’re very happy with the result.”
