My 5 favorite Elden Ring bosses I want to see in Nightreign

Elden Ring is one of, if not the best, game From Software has made, in my opinion. It took the Dark Souls and Bloodborne formula, expanded on it, and made it even better with a massive open world full of life and hardship. While I have many favorite bosses from across the Soulsborne series, some of my all-time favorite bosses are those found in Elden Ring. This game took the boss challenge and amped it up, introducing players to some of the most cinematic and breathtaking designs. Of course, this also means that these bosses are some of the most difficult in any of the Soulslike games.

Black Knife Assassins

Hide in the dark

The Black Knife Assassins were some of the more interesting enemies that I encountered during my first run of Elden Ring. Their fluid movements and sporadic attacks made them formidable foes that I struggled to defeat for a while. This was especially true for Alecto, the Black Knife Ringleader. For a while, I had to cheese this boss to even stand a chance of defeating them. I had to seriously “git gud,” as many Souls fans like to say, and I did. It would be amazing to see the Black Knife Assassins get added as a boss in Elden Ring Nightreign. I would especially love to see From Software combine Alecto with the other Black Knife enemies to create a boss that is far more devious than a single assassin.

Grave Warden Duelist

This guy goes hard

The Grave Warden Duelist isn’t the most difficult boss by far. This standard enemy is fairly easy to defeat after you learn their patterns. Later in the game, you can find more duelists as special enemies placed in different sections of the map, such as near the arena overlooking Leyndell. The reason why I like this boss is that initial feeling when you enter the first fight, and you are taking them on one-on-one. The fight feels gritty. No over-the-top cinematics, just you and them duking it out. I’d love to see that in Nightreign, but have multiple of this boss or even have them fight alongside someone else to improve their chances of coming out on top. Switch up their moveset, maybe add a new weapon, and this boss would be great.

Magma Wyrm

Feel the burn

Like other bosses on this list, there are multiple Magma Wyrms found throughout Elden Ring. There is even a special named one found in a dungeon. That doesn’t mean that these fights weren’t great when I encountered them. Needing to dodge the lava that spewed from their mouths and not get sliced by a massive sword was great. My only issue with the boss is that the moveset feels limited. I think that if From Software brings back the Magma Wyrm, it should be a fight against two of them at once, and they should have different moves. I want to see one of them fly.

2

Romina, Saint of the Bud

Bring back the scorpion

Romina is such an interesting boss to me, who reminds me of Scorpioness Najka from Dark Souls 2. I enjoyed the Najka fight, but the fight against Romina is beyond comparison. It also helps that I love the Scarlet Rot mechanic in Elden Ring. Romina put up a great fight against me, a friend, and even the NPC summon, and I do not doubt that she could take on three players in Nightreign if she had increased health and spread her Scarlet Rot around a bit more. If From Software doesn’t think she could take on three players, maybe bring back Najka so we have two scorpion bosses to deal with.

Rellana, Twin Moon Knight

Pontiff Sulyvahn, but better

Elden Ring Rellana wielding magic and fire blades

If you have played Dark Souls 3, you know the absolute magnificence that is Pontiff Sulyvahn. The awe that I felt when fighting him for the first time was renewed when I fought Renalla, Twin Moon Knight, in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring. There are no words to describe how I felt seeing Rellana use the magic and fire of her blades for the first time. This is a fight that I did not mind doing over and over again because it is unmatched in the rest of the DLC. Bringing back Rellana would be a major win for Nightreign, but From Software would be wise to change her moveset and maybe give her a companion so that the players aren’t overpowered when they fight her.

Nightreign will be fantastic

There are a lot of bosses in Elden Ring, and I love many of them. From Software could bring back any number of the bosses, and I would be satisfied to see them all. I do have personal favorites, however, and the list above is ones that I would personally love to see make a comeback, so the players have a chance to challenge them again in a new way. I would especially love it if From Software would go out of its way to give each of them a new moveset so players don’t know what to expect when Nightreign comes around.
