4 games on my Steam wishlist I’ve completely given up on

I have a massive Steam library with over 200 titles in my backlog. With that being said, I am always looking to expand the list and have been adding games to my wishlist left and right. It seems like there is always a new indie title that looks good enough to keep tabs on. Of course, there are plenty of titles that ultimately take way too long to come out. Because of this, I have completely given up on some games and no longer think they will be released anytime soon. I might just want to delete them since I haven’t received any updates for a long time.

Kandyland

Full of spooks and animatronics

Kandyland is a single-player horror title that is reminiscent of Five Nights at Freddy’s and Poppy Playtime. It features multiple animatronics that hunt you down in a theme park. The overall atmosphere that the trailer presents is haunting, and it is a game that I have been really looking forward to. The team behind the game still gives updates on its X page, and there are new characters that have been shown off as well. The team also created a miniseries that keeps me hoping to get my hands on the game, but it has been on the wishlist for almost two years, and there is no word about when the game will finally be released. Probably time to remove it from the list and let it go.

Ark 2

Vin Diesel with dinosaurs

Ark 2 was initially announced to be in development five years ago at The Game Awards in 2020. No release date was given, but I didn’t care. I quickly put the game on my wishlist and eagerly awaited the sequel to one of my favorite survival games. What made me even more excited was Vin Diesel’s involvement with the project. The latest trailer for the second game in the Ark series was released back in February, and it reminded me of how excited I am to get my hands on this game. While I am still excited for it, I know it may be a long time before it comes, and I have almost given up. There is still no release date set for the game after five years since its reveal, and I think it might be time to give up.

Carnival Hunt

A great-looking asymmetric horror game

Asymmetric horror titles aren’t the greatest to me, but something about Carnival Hunt stands out. It has a unique art style and theme that made me excited to play it when I first found it on Steam. That was back in 2023. It has been nearly two years, and I haven’t seen many updates. I know the game got fully funded on Kickstarter, but there is still no talk as to when it will be released. I chalk this one up as one I haven’t fully given up on, but there are so many other games coming out at this point that I might as well have. I probably won’t be getting it right away when it finally does get released, so there isn’t much of a reason to keep it on my wishlist. Maybe more will be shown off about this game in the future, but for now, it is forever on the back burner.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

Development hell

To say that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has gone through development hell is an understatement, but I am getting ahead of myself. I was excited about this game when it was first announced back in 2019. This was before Cyberpunk 2077 was released and before some other major game releases. Since then, my hope for this game has begun to wane. After hearing about it switching developers, I started to get worried. Then it switched developers again. At this point, VTMB2 doesn’t even remind me of the original game it was supposed to be. I guess this shouldn’t have come as a surprise, considering the original title went through its struggles. Needless to say, I have completely given up on it at this point.

Too many games at times

There are a lot of games that I have thrown on my Steam Wishlist in hopes that they will be released sometime in the near future. This often doesn’t end up being the case, and I am stuck with a massive wishlist of games that I hope will get a release date. Carnival Hunt, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, Ark 2, and Kandyland are just some of the many games I have gotten my hopes up for. Sadly, I don’t think that any of them will be released anytime soon, and they will forever be sitting on my wishlist. When they do finally get released, I will probably be so focused on other games that I won’t even care about them anymore.
