Ghost of Yōtei is officially on its way, and don’t worry, you won’t have to wait that long. On Wednesday (April 23rd), Sony, PlayStation Studios, and Sucker Punch unveiled the release date for the upcoming title.
And if that wasn’t enough, a new teaser trailer for the game was released, showing more about Atsu and her “quest for vengeance.” It wouldn’t be a big deal if Sony didn’t post a blog post to accompany the new media, full of interesting tidbits, news of a deluxe edition of the game, and more lore for those following the new Ghost’s story.

Ghost of Yōtei and the bloody hit list
Sony announced that Ghost of Yōtei would be arriving on October 2nd, 2025, on the PlayStation 5. The teaser trailer holds valuable information for fans of the Ghost series who have been waiting to know more about the forthcoming title. And based on the new visuals—it doesn’t appear to be light on the gut-wrenching storytelling and brutal combat that fans have come to expect from the beloved single-player experience.
Per a brief description from Sony, Atsu is set on a path paved with her family’s blood as she looks to get revenge on the Yōtei Six. The game follows Atsu as she hunts each of the figures down to avenge her family, using the same weapon that Lord Saito used to brutally wound her as a child.
“Sixteen years ago, in the heart of Ezo (called Hokkaido in the present day), a gang of outlaws known as the Yōtei Six took everything from Atsu. They killed her family and left her for dead, pinned to a burning ginkgo tree outside her home. But Atsu survived. She learned to fight, to kill, and to hunt, and after years away she has returned to her home with a list of six names: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito.”
Along with the story revelations, Sony’s blog post detailed how Sucker Punch aimed to create an even more livable and breathable world—surpassing that of Ghost of Tsushima. Allowing for more freedom, players will choose which big bad they take down first from the Yōtei Six. Additionally, the gameplay will give players free rein to hunt down other villains for bounties or to discover the weapon sensei better to prepare themselves for the adventure ahead with new skills.
Furthermore, the blog post featured information regarding various versions of the game. Regarding the prices, there is the standard version of Ghost of Yōtei, which will cost $69.99, the deluxe edition, which appears to be digital only, is priced at $79.99, and then the collector’s edition, which includes physical items and digital items like a limited edition Ghost mask, will run you 249.99.
