Turning to Excel to chart my little one’s growth has been a surprisingly rewarding experience. Instead of relying solely on standardized charts, this spreadsheet has become a personalized visual diary of their incredible journey. I have created different columns like age, pounds, ounces, weight, length, and other details to track my little ones’ growth with astute details.
You can even go a step ahead and use conditional formatting to highlight specific milestones or potential areas of concern (though always consult a pediatrician for medical advice). For example, you can set a rule to highlight data points where the growth rate significantly changes compared to the previous period.

Beyond numbers and formulas, Excel has become my surprisingly effective habit tracker. Instead of relying on dedicated apps, I’ve crafted a simple yet powerful system within its familiar grid. Create a weekly chore schedule

Thanks to Excel, my approach to managing household chores has evolved beyond scattered to-do lists. Instead of just writing the chore, I can choose if it’s ‘Done’, ‘Not Done’, or someone else will do it, using a little dropdown menu (use data validation). Then, the cell changes color – green for done, red for not done, and yellow if someone else is helping.
This color coding helps me see what’s been done and what still needs doing quickly. At the end of the week, Excel even counts how many times each chore was done. This simple way helps keep track of everything and makes sure our home stays tidy without any complicated lists.

Planning events in Excel has become my go-to method for staying organized and on top of every detail. I start with a master sheet that outlines key information like date, time, location, budget, and overall goals.
From there, I have several spreadsheets for various aspects: a detailed guest list with RSVP tracking and dietary restrictions, a comprehensive budget breakdown with estimated versus actual costs, a running task list with assigned owners and deadlines, and even a schedule outlining the event flow minute by minute. This system allows me to see the big picture while planning a complex event. I mostly use a template for such large workbooks.
