Fortnite adds Darth Jar Jar ahead of Star Wars Day

Darth Jar Jar is a real boy, and they’re finally getting an in-video game appearance for the first time ever—and it’s in Fortnite. Fortnite and Star Wars are collaborating ahead of May 4th, 2025, also known and recognized as Star Wars Day, to celebrate the pop culture marvel with a slew of events, skins, and limited-time events in the acclaimed battle royale.

Darth Jar Jar headlined the massive event as fans were awarded a sneak peek at the beloved character, rendered in beautiful graphics and showing off an in-game ability. Between the trailer and official word from Star Wars, here is everything we know so far about the collaboration—and Darth Jar Jar.

Darth Jar Jar heads to Fortnite with new in-game ability

Epic Games dropped a new Fortnite trailer on Saturday (April 19th), showing off the forthcoming Galactic Battle coming to the beloved battle royale game. Players are treated to aerial dogfights, lightsaber battles, Stormtroopers attempting to gun down enemy lines, and even Mandalorian jetpacks, turrets, and seemingly more mobility being added to the game. The trailer also reveals possible skins for Luke Skywalker, the Mandalorian, Mace Windu, Darth Sidious, and, of course, Darth Jar Jar.

When Jar Jar appears in the 34-second trailer, he can be seen engaging in a lightsaber fight with a Fortnite original character. After the sword fight results in a stalemate, Jar Jar then shows off the Force Lightning—which has been confirmed to be a new weapon coming to the game.

According to the official website, the trailer was also shown off at the Star Wars Celebration LIVE! Event in Japan over the weekend with help from Jar Jar Binks himself, Ahmed Best. During the event, Best and the Fortnite team revealed that the event, Fortnite: Galactic Battle, would be coming to the live service game on May 2nd, 2025. Furthermore, the event will be a sprawling five-part saga with players being treated to new Star Wars content over a month until early June.

Star Wars content coming to Fortnite during the collaborative event:

• A Star Wars-themed Battle Pass featuring iconic characters like Emperor Palpatine and mashups like Wookiee Cuddle Team Leader as seen on stage at Star Wars Celebration Japan
• All-new Item Shop offerings, including Mace Windu
• The ability to pilot and co-pilot X-wings and TIE fighters
• New themed map locations from the iconic intergalactic franchise

The five-part saga will consist of the following themes:

As implied, the event will culminate in a galaxy-wide battle called Death Star Sabotage. Players will take down Darth Sidious and thwart his nefarious plans. Fortnite: Galactic Battle begins on May 2.
