Mario Kart World is the culmination of everything Nintendo has worked on with the Mario Kart series so far. It takes tracks from old games, revitalizing them with the latest hardware, and adds brand-new tracks for players to enjoy. So far, there have been a fair number of tracks revealed to be in the game, and there are already some major frontrunners when it comes to creativity that I feel are worth mentioning. That is why I have thrown together a list of the best Mario Kart World tracks that have been revealed so far. We have images of some, but most of these are ones that have received at least a spot in the trailer.

Airship Fortress
A DS Classic
The Airship Fortress track first appeared in Mario Kart DS in 2005. Twenty years later, this course is being remade in Mario Kart World. Of course, it has made an appearance in a few games in between, such as Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart Tour. This course has players racing around a fortress in the sky. Missing a turn means that you could fly off into the abyss. On top of this, the course features cannons, towers, and a massive ship that you navigate as part of the race.

Starview Peak
It’s actually really pretty
One of the new tracks being added to Mario Kart World is Starview Peak. It appears in the game as part of the Star Cup. This course is based on the Comet Observatory in Super Mario Galaxy. It features winding tracks that go all around the observatory as well as a beautiful aurora that enhances the visuals of the area. Some of the tracks wind through the aurora and feel similar to Rainbow Road, especially with the snowflake rings placed around the track. By far, this seems like the best track that has been revealed, visually speaking.

Wario Shipyard

Wario Shipyard is another classic course that Nintendo is bringing back. This track first appeared in Mario Kart 7 before being added to Mario Kart Tour in 2020. Now, the track is seeing a much-needed upgrade in Mario Kart World. The haunting feel of the ship is great, and the water sections are amazing. You can even do tricks off the waves as an added bonus. The weather effects are also a much-needed upgrade as they make the track feel much more immersive. Visual rain and wind are great, but the addition of wind enemies that can block your path is even better.

Crown City

There are some tracks that appear in multiple cups. First, it appears in the mushroom cup, and then it makes a second appearance in the shell cup. With that being said, it has multiple routes that you can take, making it feel very immersive. Plus, there are winding city streets filled with cars to avoid. It seems like one of the more difficult tracks to get used to thanks to the number of obstacles to avoid, but that makes it all the better. It also has the same feeling as New Donk City in Super Mario Odyssey and that makes it even better.

DK Spaceport
Fly away
DK Spaceport is another new course that is making its debut in Mario Kart World, and it is, by far, the best one I have seen. This course ends with the mushroom cup, which also consists of Mario Bros. Circuit, Crown City (part 1), and Whistlestop Summit. The other courses in this cup seem like they are meant to give you a taste of the game and the new features such as rail grinding. DK Spaceport, on the other hand, has you scale a recreation of the original Donkey Kong game with barrels flying down at you and a giant robot Donkey Kong. The reason why I consider this course the best that has been revealed is because of its re-imagination of the classic arcade game mixed with a tense racing environment. There are even sections of the course where you can do wall riding, which makes it even better to me. The course ends with you confronting the giant robot Donkey Kong at the top of the mountain.

The courses look great
Mario Kart tracks have always been hit or miss. There are courses that players have loved since the original game and many that Nintendo hasn’t brought back because fans wouldn’t want to race on them. The courses that Nintendo has revitalized in Mario Kart World and the new tracks paint a clear picture that Mario Kart World will have some of the best tracks of any Mario Kart title. I, for one, am excited to jump into my kart, choose one of the many characters that Nintendo has added to the game, and race to the top of any of these tracks.
